THE DUALITY OF SPIRIT

The duality of the Spirit

1) Many Westerners believe in the duality of things. This thought scatters their strength; they no longer see only the Force, the Spirit or the One Principle and forget to consider that everything, including themselves, is an integral part of one. Their mind is then unable to stay in accord with the universe.

2) “Know that our God is One” reveal the Scriptures. It is the preservation of this fundamental truth that allows Man to live in harmony with his own nature. Man is not a separate being, projected far from its source, but created in the image of God. In experiencing this feeling of isolation, the origin of all perversity, he loses the beneficial influences of the Creative Cause which the natural order of things accorded him by right. Prisoner of this loneliness, he imagined different actions contrary to well-being, and often incriminates the Universal System to justify his misfortunes. But they are actually his own creations, because the universe does not isolate him and is not responsible for the difficulties that arise from this isolation. “Return to me and I will return to you, said the Lord: this phrase expresses the offer of the One to him who will accept his place in the divine order of the pattern of Creation.

3) Duality appears when thought and action neglect totality. But by reversing the dual thought, or by bringing the thoughts to a single point of action, the duality is entirely eliminated. We know perfectly well that we cannot act if our purpose, or even our nature, is twofold.

4) In reality, duality does not exist in nature. There is the positive and the negative, the good and the bad, the hot and the cold, but these opposites connected and united, bring the thought to a single objective, a single Principle. Opposites are not necessarily opposed. Above all, we must recognize the importance of a single goal. Jesus taught us that his greatest achievements were dictated by an unshakeable attitude. This constancy leads us to melt into a state of consciousness where the principle is immanent. Thus, “the single eye” or the unique I am replacing duality.

5) Many Hindus use the I, while others use the I Am. Some think that the appearance of I and I Am is at the origin of duality, and that this practice implied two attitudes, whereas there is in fact only a correlation or subjection of everything to the single Principle. . There is no duality of Principle, but only the union of the Principle in all things. The words “I Am” proclaim the exaltation of the One Principle makes it possible to work effectively within it. Nor do we see the duality of nature, and we do not recognize it; it becomes harmony.

6) Summer and winter are not two different seasons, but two phases of a unique nature. . Winter is as essential to vegetation growth as summer: two terms for a single process. What we call evil contains the seed of good, and when we perceive it, the notion of evil disappears; only the feeling of a common work of all things for the good remains. If instead of fleeing from poverty and suffering, we face the apparent evil that accompanies them and, considering the good they conceal, the evil will disappear.
Jesus taught us that blindness is not an evil, nor the result of evil, but an opportunity to witness the “glory of God.” For those who wish to become a mathematician, the existence of a problem is neither foreign to the principle of mathematics nor an obstacle. A problem exposes certain conditions by which the principle is applicable and refers to the desired result. On the other hand, it gives the opportunity to the individual who wants to progress. Situations that seem to oppose our higher good are in fact just an exercise that allows us to acquire sufficient strength of character to manifest the perfection of the One.When we consider life in this way, all unpleasant things are effaced; our existence becomes a kind of training in which we observe, live and move. We experience the fact that the existing good can appear in our own character and in our world. Nature becomes harmonious. All is harmony. Everything works under the influence of the One Goal.
