THE DUALITY OF SPIRIT

7) Just as the difference between a perfect chord and a false note is obvious, the individual can feel within himself what is in harmony with the Universal Principle and what opposes it. Any unharmonious condition in the nature of man proves that he is not in tune with the natural order of things. To progress perfectly, he must approach each condition so as to preserve his inner peace, but this is impossible so long as there is the slightest feeling of being separated from the innate good that runs through everything. The nature of man is eternally in accord with good, for he is the creature of God. When an individual is aware that the good eternally and invariably seeks to manifest himself in all things and in his own nature, is in
harmony with himself and with the Principle of his being. By exercising to discover the good contained in each experience, Man is automatically in the state where the evil in the eyes of others becomes the source of his good.

8) Of course, we reach the same conclusion about opposites. Many contradictory manifestations are asserted, but they are not opposed unless the individual accepts this opposition. He must harmonize the opposites in his attitude towards them because, in reality, they are never unharmonious. When we are in the state of mind where all is harmony, we perceive the harmonious relation in all things as in ourselves; it becomes a unique and simple attitude of complete harmony. Then there can be no dissonance in life, between ways of life or opposites, because they maintain a perfect relationship between them, according to the Principle.

9) In their current research, many scientists come to the same conclusion: the only discord lies in the individual or the individual, and is caused by dissonant thoughts. It is said today that Americans are the people who think in the most contradictory way. It is obvious that this comes from the different ways of thinking of the many nationalities that have come to live in this country. They are not yet fully assimilated, but the process is progressing rapidly.
(We have the same situation in Haiti where the different hostile tribes from Africa are still unable to reconcile. Taking advantage of this division, the Arabs from Syria, Lebanon and other places have seized the opportunity to make their butter.)

10) The mathematical axiom according to which only two figures equal to a third are equal to each other is the key to all harmony. It is only because the peoples of America begin to be moved by a common impulse that a beginning of harmony can be established. This is also true of the world in general, or of the individual.

11) It is undeniable that Jung made a major contribution to the problem of harmony by giving us the story of his experience in a cave. In many parts of India, the faithful retreat into caves to remain in total silence; they then seek to draw a conclusion on determining factors. In each of the cases listed, individuals who visit perfectly quiet places can perceive the greatest activity in life. Their horizons widen as they project their vision further. They see clearly through matter or physical reality and discover the perfect state in which all activities are harmonious. Then what they consider universally true is simply connected to the material world. The latter is not subject to the spiritual plane, it is only connected to its original state and the perfection of the spiritual dimension is immediately manifested. This activity, this harmonious agreement, works perfectly under their direction.
